Founding place of the congregation of Casadean monks (from “Casa Dei”, its Latin name given by the founder Saint Robert) which shone in Europe especially in the Middle Ages. The church was rebuilt in the XIVe s., splendid, by Pope Clement VI, former monk of La Chaise Dieu, who made it his tomb.

The building contains, among other things, a rood screen, an organ, a set of remarkable stalls surmounted by an extraordinary series of tapestries, the famous "Danse macabre", a cloister with beautiful remains... this remarkable heritage has been the setting, since 1966, from the prestigious La Chaise Dieu Music Festival.
