Chauriat, Petite Cité de Caractère©

The 12 July 2024

Meeting place: Under the hall

Architecture, landscape, towns or cities of character, visits always allow you to discover or rediscover the history and local heritage... and the small story often meets the big one.

Chauriat is an old town concentrated around the Saint-Julien and Sainte-Marie buildings which has a village fortification.
Marked by Cluny, Saint-Julien recalls the great Romanesque buildings of the region, notably with an original polychrome exterior. All of the capitals illustrating a wild nature then tamed by man, are remarkable.
On the program, a musical donkey, a Last Supper or even a representation of the Holy Women.
The visit continues into the heart of this Little City of Character© to discover the bourgeois residences with remarkable architecture telling a rich history which bears witness to the development over the centuries of this locality.
