Two new exhibitions to discover at the Creux de l’Enfer contemporary art center!
Bad weather
Marion Chambinaud and Marjolaine Turpin
In the exhibition they are offering at Creux de l'Enfer, Clermont-based artists Marion Chambinaud and Marjolaine Turpin pay particular attention to time, making reference both to the duration of events and to the meteorology of the present moment, its atmosphere and its disturbances. Both interested in the arts of fire, their approaches are complementary: if Marion Chambinaud's ceramic practice is interested in the transformations of matter during cooking, that of Marjolaine Turpin focuses more on isolating ecosystems to reveal the balance of their relationships. The exhibition brings together personal pieces or pieces created as a duo. It is around glass, as part of a collaboration initiated in 2021 in a creative residency in the Ateliers du Faire of the Martell Foundation, that they experiment together with various firings, focusing on porosity and the exchanges between cooking and combustion spaces, burned material and imprints left by the fire.
From May 15, pieces created in co-creation with elementary school students from the Clermont-Ferrand Academy as part of a PACTE National Education project will be included in the exhibition, for the fourth edition. of La petite fabrication, time for restitution of artistic and cultural education projects at Creux de l'Enfer.
Opposing forces
Silvana McNulty
Silvana Mc Nulty's practice lies at the intersection of sculpture, installation and craftsmanship. She places at the center of her plastic research objects whose functionality she diverts through the research and repetition of shapes within geometric assemblages where organic and artificial materials confront each other. The Forcescontraries exhibition presents personal works by the artist, mixed with pieces produced during a residency at the Jean Zay General and Technological High School in Thiers. Adept in the crochet technique that she uses to combine heterogeneous objects, she summons disturbing encounters between shapes, colors and materials while generating a set of symbols and patterns, weaving a personal grammar. On the technical platform of the high school, she wanted to glean scraps of materials to reappropriate them and sublimate them by paying particular attention to their details, through slow and meticulous work of intertwining threads.
From May 15, new pieces will be included in the exhibition following co-creation workshops carried out at the Lycée Jean Zay, at the Collège La Durolle in La Monnerie-le-Montel and at the social life space of the Atrium in Thiers for the fourth edition of La petite fabrication, a time to present artistic and cultural education projects at Creux de l'Enfer.
