Heritage and landscape tour commented by a guide-lecturer from the Land of Art and History on the site of La Chapelle-sur-Usson and its Saint-Julien church. Free upon registration.
The La Chapelle-sur-Usson plateau dominates the western slope of the Livradois granite massif. Facing the landscape, the Saint-Julien church is a Romanesque foundation transformed several times into the Gothic style with a vast gable porch. It is an ideal site for enjoying the panorama of a vast open and hilly space, crossed by paths connecting the hamlets located on the edge of the relief. The history of the place still resonates with the memory of one of the last lords of the manor, Gabriel de la Colombe, a knight and wolf scout who, according to the most widespread version of his story, would have been the greatest wolf hunter in the 18th century.
