Le Moulin des Massons

The only mill still in operation in the Vizézy valley, the Moulin des Massons invites you to discover the art of making grilled rapeseed, walnut or hazelnut oil. This visit will put all your senses to work!

Discovering traditional manufacturing techniques for grilled rapeseed, walnut or hazelnut oil.
At the heart of a hamlet grouping together farms and mills, the oldest traces of which date back to the XNUMXth century, enthusiasts are reviving the production of grilled rapeseed oil, walnuts and hazelnuts as at the beginning of the XNUMXth century.

The guided tour takes you on a discovery of oil production in the company of the master oiler, you will also witness the sawing of logs at the sawmill. The mill and the sawmill are both animated by the only driving force of water which actuates turbine and spinning wheel, and also generates the electricity of the hamlet.
Sounds, smells and flavors are on the agenda of this dive into the heart of the traditions and ancestral know-how of the region. The visit ends with a tasting.

A small glazed hive is installed near the old apiary.
You can see the bees at work, the queen, the brood and the honey store. You will also see them coming out of the hive in search of pollen.

Stroll on the path of the reach (fun thematic path free of access of 1km round trip).
Solve the puzzles of Philomène the Ladybug to unlock the secrets of the reach in the hamlet of Les Massons. She will guide you along a course of less than a kilometer and will make you discover how water, the driving force, arrives at the Mill as well as the fauna and flora present on the site.
