10am: welcome by a tour guide at La Chaise-Dieu to discover the history of its former Benedictine abbey. Guided tour of the Gothic St Robert abbey church which houses the tomb of Pope Clement VI surrounded by 144 stalls, the famous 15th century mural fresco "the macabre dance" and a 17th century baroque organ case... Then visit the Gothic cloister, the chapel of Notre Dame du Collège where the 14 completely restored Flemish tapestries from the 16th century are optimally presented and the famous echo room from the 17th century where so many secrets are whispered under a vault decorated with frescoes in optical illusion...
12 p.m.: local meal in a Casablanca restaurant (1/4 wine and coffee included)
14 p.m.: departure for an excursion in the footsteps of a famous figure in the history of France and discovery of the Château de Lafayette located in the small village of Chavaniac. This 14th century fortified house, remodeled and restored several times throughout its history, is the birthplace of the famous General Marquis de La Fayette, an extraordinary historical figure and hero of both worlds. Visit of the castle thanks to a museum tour in the heart of the 18th century then discovery of the park labeled "remarkable garden" and its rose garden.
